Born in Miami, Florida, Abstract and Contemporary Painter, Douglas Garcia has always credited his success and inspiration to his parents; Rafael Antonio Garcia and Claudia Janet Gutierrez, who raised him in Colombia, South America.

His mother’s creativity and ingenuity taught him that there was nothing that couldn’t be achieved through art, music and imagination. His father also provided him the valuable lessons of hard work and perseverance.

Art, in all its forms, was present in his life since a very early age. Douglas’ first art pieces were sketches of his favorite cartoons, created at age five. Eventually these evolved into more complex drawings and paintings. Today, painting has become one of his biggest passions, and he fulfills his dreams by way of the canvas. Energy, motion and soul are the essential elements he uses in creating his works of art.

Douglas sees himself as a catalyst through which divine forces use him to create art pieces that bring happiness and well being to others, employing symbols of good fortune and prosperity to complete a whole and synergistic work of art. Douglas’ paintings usually revolve around places, emotions, music, love, passion and intrigue. Using different media and a broad gamut of colors, Douglas hopes to create a feeling of a full immersion of colors that dance to their own delightful music.

Traveling abroad to the Far East, Latin-America and throughout the United States has allowed him to understand many cultures and experience numerous art forms. He continues his quest in becoming a “Citizen of the World” through the constant study of humanity, nature and the development of his skills through soul enlightenment.

In Douglas’ own words he gives thanks to a higher being, “I pray to God to give me the strength to continue crafting many works of art to make our troubled world a more colorful place. Life has many meanings. For me life is motion, energy, and passion...all revolving around God and all his greatness."
